Built from
one phone call.
Still growing.
Team Digits isn't a marketing agency that started with a pitch deck and a brand identity. It started with a friend's broken e-commerce problem in 2018 — and a decision to actually fix it.
We've been diagnosing and fixing businesses' digital marketing ever since. No fluff. No retainers for the sake of retainers. Just results that show on the P&L.
It started with a
static website and a
friend who needed more.
In 2018, a friend approached Mbugua Karinga with a problem. They had a business — Etech Global Solutions — and someone had built them a website. A static one. Beautiful, perhaps. But completely useless for e-commerce.
Mbugua rebuilt it. Set up Google. Set up Meta. Built and launched their initial campaigns. Sales started moving. Then they kept moving. Today, Etech Global Solutions is Kenya's largest supplier of printing equipment and accessories.
That first win spread by word of mouth. More projects came. Then more. Each one freelanced, each one delivered. The pattern was always the same: a business with real potential, a digital presence that wasn't working, and a gap between the two that nobody had bothered to close properly.
In 2023, Team Digits became official. Not because of a grand plan — but because the operation had outgrown what one person could hold together alone. It was time to build a team around what was already working.
The pain point that drives everything hasn't changed since 2018: too many Kenyan business owners either don't know digital marketing exists for them, or they're doing it completely wrong. We fix that. We diagnose first — then we prescribe exactly what each business needs. Nothing more, nothing less.
The North Star
"We want to see Kenyan businesses making a kill out of the digital ecosystem. Every single one of them."
First client. Rebuilt Etech Global Solutions' website for e-commerce and launched their first paid campaigns.
Word spreads. First referral clients — freelance projects growing across FMCG, real estate, and services.
Scaling up. Larger projects require dedicated teams. First subcontracting arrangements formalised.
Team Digits incorporated. The operation formalised as a company with a core team of 8.
Building the brand. Launching the full web presence, scaling the team, and expanding across East Africa.
Mbugua Karinga
Founder, Team Lead & Digital Strategist
"The greatest frustration isn't competition. It's watching a business with a great product fail online because nobody showed them how to do it right."
Mbugua didn't study marketing. He studied what works. Seven years of hands-on campaign management, website rebuilds, SEO strategies, and analytics deep-dives across industries — that's the curriculum. Every client is a new problem set. Every campaign is a hypothesis to be tested.
His approach is the same whether the client is a first-time business owner in Thika Road or a corporate marketing director in Upper Hill: understand the business first, the channel second. Too many agencies start with "let's run some ads." Mbugua starts with "show me your numbers."
The 2023 decision to formalise Team Digits wasn't about ego — it was about capacity. The work had grown beyond what one person could deliver at the quality level it deserved. Building a team meant being able to take on more without delivering less.
He still leads strategy on every engagement. Not because he doesn't trust the team — but because the strategic diagnosis is where most agencies get it wrong, and it's where Team Digits earns its keep.
We exist to put
Kenyan businesses
on the digital map.
Not because it's a nice idea. Because there are thousands of businesses in this country with excellent products, loyal customers, and real potential — sitting invisible online while worse competitors capture their market.
That is a solvable problem. We solve it.
Diagnose Before Prescribing
We don't walk in with a ready-made solution. Every engagement starts with understanding — what's actually happening, what the data says, and where the real leverage is.
Tailored, Not Templated
No two businesses are the same. We don't sell packages — we build strategies. Every proposal is scoped specifically for that client's stage, budget, and goals.
If It Can't Be Measured, We Don't Run It
Every tactic we recommend has a measurable outcome attached. Vibes-only marketing isn't marketing — it's expensive guesswork. We're allergic to it.
Honest, Even When It's Uncomfortable
We'll tell you when something won't work — before you spend money on it. That sometimes means turning down work. We'd rather do that than take a retainer we can't justify.
Built for This Market
We understand the Kenyan digital landscape — the consumer behaviour, the platform dynamics, the WhatsApp-first culture. We don't import strategies from London and hope they work in Nairobi.
Small core team.
Serious execution.
A small core team, plus a wider network of specialists on standby. Every engagement gets the exact combination of skills it needs — no more, no less.
We Diagnose First
Every engagement starts with an audit — not a proposal. We need to understand what's actually happening before we can say what to do about it. This is why our Free Digital Health Check exists.
We Propose Tailored Solutions
After the diagnosis, we build a bespoke strategy and scope. No retainer packages pulled off a shelf. The proposal fits the problem — and it comes with a clear ROI expectation attached.
We Build Teams Around Projects
Our core team handles strategy, management, and execution. When a project needs a specialist — a videographer, a developer, a media buyer — we bring in the right person.
We Report Honestly
Monthly reports with real commentary — not just the metrics that look good. If something isn't working, we say so and explain why. Clients who know what's happening make better decisions.
We Optimise Continuously
We don't launch and disappear. Weekly optimisation cycles mean we're always improving — and always killing what isn't earning its place in the strategy.
We Stay Until It Works
We've never walked away from an engagement that was underperforming without an honest conversation first. If the strategy needs to change, we change it. The goal is results — not a quiet exit.
Small team. One standard.

We've worked across
most of Kenya's
growth sectors.
From e-commerce startups to established institutions, our clients share one thing in common: they had a digital marketing problem that wasn't getting solved. Industry doesn't matter as much as intent.
Brands we can name today
More case studies are in progress — we only publish client names with confirmed written consent.
No awards yet.
Here's what we have instead.
Team Digits was formally incorporated in 2023. We don't have industry awards, we're not a Google Premier Partner yet, and we haven't been featured in Forbes Africa. We're building towards all of that.
What we do have is an 8-year track record of results — delivered to real businesses, measured in real numbers. Etech Global Solutions didn't need us to have a trophy cabinet. They needed us to fix their website and make sales happen. We did that. We've been doing it ever since.
The credentials will come. In the meantime, we let the work speak — and we invite any prospective client to call our existing clients directly and ask how it went.
What we track instead
Until the trophies arrive, these are the numbers that matter to us — and to the businesses we work with.
10+ active clients, built up since the first one in 2018
11,361+ leads captured for AG German Institute alone since April 2024
8-year track record — Etech Global Solutions is still a client today
Kenya-first — every strategy built for this market, not imported from elsewhere
We're building something.
Come build it with us.
Team Digits is growing — both in clients and in capability. We're looking for people who are obsessed with results, honest about what they don't know, and genuinely excited about Kenyan business.
